Asda has thrown its hat into the lunchtime ring with a brand new £4 hot food meal deal, aiming to give hungry shoppers a warm, budget-friendly option on the go. Supermarket meal deal rivalries are always fierce across the UK, but offering piping hot food for four quid could be a real game-changer if you’re tired of the usual cold sandwiches and packet crisps.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite on a work break or looking for a cheap lunch while doing the big shop, this latest offer packs in some surprisingly tempting options. Here’s a look at what’s actually included in the deal, how it works, and whether it’s worth trying.

What can you get in Asda’s new £4 hot meal deal?

The offer gives customers a choice from 17 mains, five sides and eight sauces, mixing traditional hot food counter items with selections pulled straight from the rotisserie chicken counter. Breakfast options include a Sausage Bap or Sausage & Bacon Bap, while lunch brings in items like Chicago Town Cheese Pizza Slices and Hot & Spicy Mini Fillets.

Rotisserie counter favourites also feature as mains within the deal, including Chinese Chicken Drumsticks and Piri Thighs. The Half Chicken and Tasty Chicken aren’t part of the £4 offer and remain priced individually alongside it, so it’s wise to check labels closely before buying to avoid being caught out.

How does the price stack up against rivals?

Unlike most supermarket meal deals, the £4 price doesn’t include a drink, meaning that gets added on separately. Even so, the pricing sits roughly in line with what’s currently on offer elsewhere, since most deals across supermarkets land somewhere between £3.50 and £4.50 depending on where you shop and whether you hold a loyalty card.

Asda’s own regular meal deal, covering a main, snack and drink, costs £3.74, while its premium option including sushi, focaccia, and premium salads comes in at £5. Tesco’s standard deal costs £3.85 with a Clubcard or £4.25 without one, with its premium version priced at £5.50 for cardholders and £6 for everyone else. Sainsbury’s standard deal sits at £3.95, alongside a £5 premium option.

Comparing further afield shows what a solid deal Asda’s offering.

Morrisons offers one of the cheaper options at £3.50 with a More Card, or £4 without one, while Boots also stays fairly competitive, charging £3.60 for Advantage Card holders or £3.99 for non-members. Against this backdrop, Asda’s new hot food deal lands squarely in the middle of the pack on price, while standing out specifically for including proper hot food rather than the usual sandwich, snack and drink combination most rivals stick to.

Where can you actually get Asda’s £4 hot meal deal?

As a brand new launch, the deal isn’t yet available across every Asda store nationwide. The retailer has confirmed it’s currently limited to “participating locations,” though it will eventually roll out to every store that operates a rotisserie counter.
