Pasta salads sold at Asda and Morrisons have been recalled after tests found a possible link to a bacteria that can cause meningitis. Manufacturer Greencore is pulling three products from shelves over concerns about contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
Which products are affected?
Three separate pasta products are involved in the recall:
Asda Cheese & Tomato Pasta Salad, product code 5063089221990, 300g pack, use by 10 August 2026
Asda Nacho Cheese Pasta Salad, product code 5063717198311, 500g pack, use by 09 August 2026
Morrisons Chicken and Bacon Pasta, product code 5010251790587, 300g pack, use by 07 August 2026
Anyone with one of these products at home is being urged to check the exact code and use-by date against this list before deciding what to do with it.
There are specific symptoms to watch out for.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause symptoms that closely resemble flu, including a high temperature, muscle aches or pains, chills, feeling or being sick, and diarrhoea. In most cases, symptoms stay relatively mild and pass without serious complications.
In rarer cases, though, the infection can turn more severe, leading to serious complications including meningitis. Certain groups face a higher risk from listeria infections specifically, including people over 65, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies under one month old, and anyone with a weakened immune system.
What to do if you’ve bought one of these products
The advice from the Food Standards Agency is straightforward: if you’ve bought any of the affected products, don’t eat it. Instead, take it back to your nearest store, where you’ll be given a full refund without needing to show a receipt.

Why do recalls like this happen?
