Lidl and M&S have built up something of a cult following for their in-store bakeries over the past few years, with shoppers regularly raving about the cookies, croissants and savoury bakes. Now Tesco is aiming to get in on the action too, revealing eight new bakery items landing in stores this September.
Tesco is leaning into autumn flavours across the range.
The new lineup brings a distinctly autumnal feel, including a twist on Tesco’s already popular tear and share buns, alongside new loaded buns inspired by the viral cinnamon bun trend that’s taken off thanks to brands like Roll Boys. Prices across the new range start from £1.50.
Among the new additions is a Chocolate & Hazelnut Tear & Share, priced at £3.50, combining a soft, fluffy dough with a chocolate hazelnut filling running throughout.
Tesco is also introducing three new Rolled & Loaded buns, all priced at £2.25 each: a Cinnamon Bun, a Blueberry Cheesecake Bun, and a Caramel & Chocolate Bun. Each one is generously swirled with filling throughout, then finished off with a layer of indulgent icing on top. The cinnamon and cheesecake versions both come topped with a cream cheese icing, while the caramel and chocolate option is finished with a rich caramel sauce instead.

Also joining the range are new Tesco Finest Butterscotch & Pecan Buns, sold as a pack of two for £2.50. These are soft brioche buns filled with a sweet, butterscotch flavoured centre, topped with a smooth butterscotch fondant and finished with crunchy pecan pieces.
Tesco is clearly leaning heavily into the chocolate and hazelnut combination across this launch too, with several items built around that flavour pairing appearing throughout the new range.
Rounding out the biscuit side of the range are new Finest Belgian Chocolate, Hazelnut & Caramel Cookies, priced at £2.25. Made using Belgian dark chocolate buttons, smooth caramel pieces and crunchy roasted hazelnuts, Tesco describes them as crunchy on the outside while staying soft and melt-in-the-mouth on the inside.

It’s a flavour combination that clearly ties in with the wider autumn theme running through much of this new bakery lineup.
Finally, two new bread options join the lineup. A Finest Chocolate and Hazelnut Sourdough, priced at £3.75, is enriched with both dark and milk chocolate for a sweet, creamy flavour, finished with roasted hazelnut pieces for added crunch. Tesco describes it as offering a rich, nutty flavour paired with a satisfyingly crisp crust.
There’s also a Finest Olive Ciabatta, available as either a two-pack or sold loose for £1.50, made using a mix of green and black olives and finished with a light dusting of flour on top.
Tesco isn’t the only supermarket refreshing its bakery this autumn.
This launch comes shortly after M&S announced its own new bakery additions for the season, including a product designed to take on Greggs directly. M&S has introduced its own sausage roll, priced at £2.25, made using RSPCA-assured, outdoor-bred British pork sourced from M&S Select farms, alongside an all-butter puff pastry. The retailer has confidently claimed no other high street sausage roll comes close to matching it.
Alongside the sausage roll, M&S has also introduced new bread sticks, a Spinach & Feta Roll, a Tomato & Cheddar Knot, and a ‘Nduja & Ricotta Swirl, giving shoppers plenty of new savoury options to try across supermarket bakeries this autumn, whether they’re heading to Tesco or M&S.
